February 24, 2014

Hello!!!

Mom, you watched the Saratov approach????? oh my goodness! I have heard great things about it!! This one lady in our ward told us the whole story! I can't wait to see it when I get home. Not that I am wanting to go home, but I just want to see it.
Anyway....... congrats on getting the job!! I am so happy for you!! That will be so amazing!

Dad, you should come to colorado. its like 60 right now. But the weather changes in an instant. But I still like this weather :)
mom watches Gray's Anatomy? interesting

Garrett, you signed your apartment? thats awesome! Also thats super awesome your getting a tux with a tailcoat. haha :) March 29th is coming up!

by the way I love the cutouts. their so awesome!! :D
Gavin. There is this sister in my area and she said she knows of a family by the name of the Calls. and apparently they know you. I guess they said that you said that you have a sister in the CDNM and they talked to a sister missionary who I know and they asked if she knew me. I never met the calls, but thats what the sister said to me. Kind of confusing but cool :)

So this week was super awesome!!!
One of our investigators is an 11 year old kid who is from a part member family. I guess they were less active for a while and are just now starting to go back to church. But we set him on date for march 29th!!!!!! I am so excited! and he is super excited as well. His mind is kind of all over the place. I was on exchanges that day so it made me sad. I guess they had to explain the difference between magic and priesthood. I don't know. He's hilarious though :)
A sad moment is when the family that we found tracting just dropped us because they were comfortable where they were at. We went and visited them and they did welcome us in to just tell us that they weren't interested anymore. But they said that they would keep reading with an open mind. So I guess its happy as well. Bitter sweet.
We also met Radwa our investigator who is muslim. She was really open about everything. But it is also hard teaching somebody without a christian background. But we think she is golden! She is an amazing woman. And as missionaries we are told to be careful to teach people who is of the muslim religion because in those countries such as egypt or Iran, Iraq, etc, if they go back they could be killed. I think they have to sign a document that says it as well.
We also tracted into this woman this week and just did the prayer approach. she is from catholic background didn't like the concept of baptism in that religion. And we had her reading James 1:5. She told us that she felt really warm and happy. She is totally golden!! We also have a return appointment this week :D
I love this work and the Lord is putting miracles in our life every day.

I love you guys so much!!

Hello Everyone!

This week has been suuuuuper awesome!!
But first lets talk about home :)

Mom, I got my package, thank you for that :) Also I got the card from my package. it was supposed to go to gavin. haha :)
I actually don't remember brandie. who is she??
Go for the job! It sounds like its awesome and if they like you then go for it!
haha. Garrett's funny. He's just twitterpated
That is super crazy about the missionaries. The mission president said one time to us that there will be 2 sets of missionaries in every single ward. and he is going to try NOT to put 3 sets in one ward. crazy!!!

Dad, That is so sad about Nancy. After all she went through, she doesn't need her husband after she had for so long cheat on her. That is the most horrible thing to do. and incredibly selfish. ugh! I don't know what to say right now. Just give Nancy a hug for me and also Renden. I wish that family the best of luck and its going to be a long trial for them

Garrett, Enduuuure!!! keep yourself busy!! Its coming soooooooon!!!

So this week has been super awesome!
We had a big zone conference this week and I loooove those! because it just gets you excited about the work again. But president toombs role played about how to become better teachers. Don't just breeze through the first lesson. actually take time to let them know of who God is. Because people have their own silly ideas about their perception of God. That training really helped my teaching skills. :)
We found 6 new investigators this week. Some were referals and most was trackting. But the really cool thing is we found a family. The husband is from Ghana and the wife is american. and they have a daughter that is 14 years old. When we trackted into them, John (the husband) opened the door, and was happy to see us, because he has a sister that converted to the gospel a couple of years ago! wow! so we taught them the first lesson and they were totally receptive, and the spirit was so strong! By the time we were ready to leave, they wanted us to come to church, AND they invited us to dinner. super amazing!
We also found this lady on the sidewalk. She is from Israel, decided that she didn't like her muslim religion anymore becuase the Imam (ee-mom) (like a pastor for the muslim religion) took her husbands side in a divorce when he was abusive. So she was open to the book of mormon as well.
ALSO, we found this couple who was reffered to us from a convert in the ward. The girl was really receptive but I don't know about the boyfriend. He didn't seem too interested.
We are also teaching two 11 year old kids who'se parents are Less Actives. I find it really hard to teach the kids. I don't know why....
So we went to a less actives house last night and she opened the door in tears and said it wasn't a good time. She found out that her husband has been cheating on her.  We asked her if she needed someone to talk to, and she said no its okay. But she talked anyway about everything. We talked for an hour, and we said a prayer with her. And what was interesting is she said that we just barely missed her husband leave. We would have gone up to her place earlier, but we were interrupted by a couple of phone calls. I think if we ignored those phone calls and just gone up there, then who knows what would have happened. How interesting. The Lord really knows what he's doing :)

I love you all!!!

February 10, 2014

Hello everyone!!
This week has been a crazy week. But first: home
Mom, That is awful about Emily. I will definitely keep her in my prayers. Just another one of those trails and how we need to lean on the Lord for help in every way possible. I have a good feeling that Emily will be okay.
Tell Hayley that I love her and she is going to marry somebody truly amazing. I truly wish I could be at the wedding shower, but I don't think my mission president would let me. haha. oh well. I can always come to the wedding shower for Gavin's future wife :)
Dad, I'm glad we didn't have those cold temperatures. We had temps that dropped below zero but nothing like that.
Thank you for your testimony on the Plan of Salvation. I love reading it.
Garrett, I love you so much!!! when is the date again? its getting closer!!! :D
So this week has been crazy busy. Since we have no new investigators, we have been working from scratch.
So the weather here has dropped -5 one day and we still went out in it. Yup. Coldest days of the year. But then a day or two later it went right back up to 50 degree weather. This place is worse then Idaho.
We have tracted everyday this week and found 3 new investigators. and 5 potentials. One of the Potentials is named John and he is from Ghana, Africa. Super cool guy.
There was this one guy who was high on weed (its legal in Colorado.), and we wanted to come back and teach him when he was sober. so he's like "but I thought the meeting was starting right now" what??? well, we came back the next day with him and his girlfriend (not high) and we shared the first lesson, and the spirit was so strong, and the girlfriend said that she felt really good hearing this. SO they are super awesome and were a referral from one of the members. #referralsrock
anyway, they invited us back so they we can teach them the plan of salvation. But they are not married and are living together which is going to be interesting.
That is pretty much it for the week!!!
Love you all!!

Hello everyone!
Mom, Sister Rodriguez has been here since May, and President told her and me that she was getting transfered.
By the way. I love the pictures of Garrett! I totally thought I had commented on them last week. sorry! They are amazing!

Garrett! I'm so happy for you!!! :D the date is coming up and I am jumping for joy!! I love you so much and wish you the best!
Dad, Tell Liz that everything will be okay. It will all work out in the end and to lean on the Lord in this hard time in her life.
I forget how cold it is in CDA. Out here, it is between 20-60. Right now its somewhere in the 50s. LOVE THIS WEATHER!
So this week has been crazy. But super slow.
So super bowl sunday was a crazy day. I heard a LOT from the members about how the Broncos were losing. Especially with Peyton Manning on their team. Sad day for Colorado.
Saturday, we had transfer doctorine, and come to find out, sister Rodriguez is being transfered to my old area in Savory Ponds ward! I am staying in the area and sister Johnson is my new companion. and she is also the senior companion. So I am not driving yet. I want to drive sooooo badly! But oh well. I'll get over it. She also drives like a grandmother. Its like she is driving for the very first time in her life. Drives me INSANE!
anyway, thats all to report. Sorry for the short letter. I will write again next week.
Love you all!!
