This week was awesome!

Mom, sorry about the short letter. it happens :)
My comp: Sister Huefner, her favorite color: blue, she's from Magna Utah, has 6 siblings, she's been out for 10 months. She's awesome :)
yay! that's awesome about your grades! keep going!
iPhones are awesome. I probably won't be able to use one because I haven't been around technology in ages. haha.
Don't count down mom. Don't think about it and it will go by even quicker :)

Dad, nope! the weather here is fantastic! its so warm here between the 70s and 90s. Love it!
poor Lucy.

This week was awesome!
So we taught Colleen twice this week. She is the most amazing person ever!
we were teaching about the plan of salvation and she asked good questions. One of them being on Sealings. She did a lot of research before she even contacted us. We talked to her about how Hell is not physical but mental. We said that when you have an addiction like smoking when you die (she still smokes), then you will still have that addiction. She's like OOH! She was very surprised. haha
Then we talked to her on Friday about the 3rd lesson (the Gospel of Jesus Christ) we talked to her about faith and how its compared to a mustard seed (Alma 32). She said that she could feel faith growing in her. Then the cool part is when we talked about Baptism, I said that when we are baptized, it can cleans us of our sins, it will be wiped clean. and she responded "All of our sins??" and she started getting emotional. It was so cool to see her grow within a short amount of time. That is my favorite part about being a missionary. People change and they are willing to change to give up a lot of habits they have and lifestyle they have, just to have god in their lives.
Then we had another investigator lesson, and she is a part member family. She is looking for a church in her life and she has been to LDS churches before when she was younger....... In Utah.............. She didn't like it that much. But she is willing to try it here.
We also visit a less active every week and she is the one that had 2 of her kids die from cancer. She is doing much better. She does have a goal to get to the temple, and she even said that someday she will go to church. She never even said that before. She is progressing so much! through her struggles she is progressing little by little. :)
So, my companion sister Huefner has knee troubles. She accidentally popped her knee cap out of place and now she has to go through physical therapy. The physical therapist said that biking would be a lot better on her knee as well. Sooooooo, we are trying to get bikes for work! Yup. it will also help our area as well if we biked in certain areas because we wouldn't have to use up a ton of our miles and then we could go to ALL of our areas. I don't know how I am going to ride a bike in a skirt, but I will figure out a way. :)

I love you all!
Sister Rook

One of the members in our ward saw that my bag was all tattered and torn, so they bought me a new one! Love them!
Then sunsets here are gorgeous! we were just out in the middle of nowhere (still in our area) and saw this.

October 20, 2014

Mom, can you tell Taree to write me?? I lost her email address and I wrote her twice on a physical letter, but she hasn't written me back :(
I heard the Giver was really good.
The mustache was just a little funny thing. Kind of an inside joke. haha.

Dad, of course you would say Marines. haha.
That's really sad about Idaho. The second coming is at hand.
Boise all the way!

Gavin, that's okay about that guy. because his son is still going to take the discussions and enter the celestial kingdom someday. You are doing the Lord's work as best as you can. And he is proud of you.

This week went by so fast!
We taught Colleen last week and Satan is throwing everything he can at her already.
So much turmoil going on in her life right now, its just crazy. She wants to come to church, but she says she has no modest clothing. We will find some for her then!
So we were teaching our less active sister Jurgens and she said that there was someone in the ward that gave her a coffee substitute, and she was not sure about drinking it. So we talked to her about faith and how we need it as an action. So she figured out for herself that she needs to start drinking the substitute rather then the actual coffee. WOOOOOOOOOOO!
Not much else going on. Sorry this letter is sooooooooooooooooooooooo short!
I love you all!

October 14, 2014

Mom, Nope. I'm not getting trunky. My mind is focused on the work. Don't wait to have Christmas. just go ahead and do it. I will survive. :)
your doing so great with school.  keep it up!
Casey is HOME????? that is so crazy! I can't believe that she is already home! Does she have an accent? haha.
That is really sad about Baylee. She has been hanging out with the wrong crowd and it just goes to show that you really do need to choose your friends wisely.
Dad, that is awesome about your work!
Gavin, that's awesome about Ryan. Baptize him!
This week has been great and sad at the same time.
We taught Colleen this week and it was awesome!!!!! She is totally prepared and ready to be baptized tomorrow! She grew up Atheist and after teaching her the first lesson and learning about God, We asked her if she had any questions and she said she is just taking it all in. She also gave up a lot of her habits before we even met her like coffee, alcohol, drugs, and she is even trying to give up smoking. she just asked us why do we need to give that up? So we read her the promised blessings in D&C. She's so awesome! so prepared!
Then transfers came. We got the news on Saturday night with Transfer Doctrine (transfer meeting. Missionary lingo), I was staying and my comp sister Bertagnole will be transferred to Parker to be a Sister Trainer Leader! (It's like a zone leader but for sisters). So after being with her for 3 transfers it was harder to leave her. She went around to say goodbye to everyone. The people here are just sooo awesome here that it will be hard for me to leave this area as well. at the end of this transfer, I will be here for 6 months. Love this ward!  Just like what gavin says, "I'm not coming home." I am adopting these people :)
meet the Mormons was awesome!!! looooooved it! the office people provided us with Popcorn and pop. super fun.
Then on Monday, We had to get up at 5 and prepare everything to be in Westminster to drop off my comp at 9am. Then I waited for my comp to arrive at 12. Her name is sister Huefner. (huffner) from Magna Utah. She's been out 10 months and she's so amazing!
that is pretty much it for the week.
Love you all!!

October 6, 2014

Hello everyone!

Mom, thanks for putting money in my checking :)
Oh my goodness! Casey is already home??? that is just nuts!
I do know a sister Trujillo! She is serving in my zone as a spanish sister!
DOn't be discouraged on a B. Thats still awesome!!! better then a C!

Dad, that is awesome that you love your job. It makes all the difference.
thats hilarious about chuck. haha.

Garrett, I am trying my best not to get trunky. ALso, that is good that you are moving one the 8th. I will be home on the 5th! of which is a VERY long way away.

Gavin, I'm glad you liked the card!
as of miles. My area covers 6 cities because the ward is so big. Just set up a LOT of apointments during weekly planning, and don't go driving around ALL day. that just sucks up your miles. plan around dinner. That will save you a lot of miles. With our ward, we were over my first transfer here. But with effective planning, we actually had enough miles last month to get to the top of one of our areas that we hardly ever go to and we were still under 100 miles. So, plan effectively! learned this from experiance :)

This week was awesome even though a ton of people cancelled.
the ward is doing so awesome with doing missionary work. This challenge with the youth is not only getting the youth excited for missionary work, but it is getting the parents thinking about it as well. We were helping a 13 year old overcome her fears of inviting someone to church. We role played with her, and used the scriptures in D&C 33 (open your mouth). It was so awesome! Then that sunday, she brought 2 people to church! It was awesome!! the ward is really becoming involved in the work as to opposed to before we started this challenge.

So, something exciting that is happening in the mission this week, is we are going to watch Meet the Mormons! the new movie that is coming out on the 10th. Salt Lake is lending us a copy to watch a day before it comes out! we are watching it on thursday! Soooooooooo stoked!

So something cool happened on thursday. We were getting out of our dinner, when we got a phone call from our ward mission leader saying that he got a phone call from someone who lives out of the mission that knows somebody that wants immediate contact from the church. So we were in hudson at the time, and we rushed over to Fort Lupton of where she was at, and we met her on the porch. She is a young single mom, and with kids. she had one child die at 2 months, and she is pretty much married but going through a divorce. A while back her husband took the kids and left her homeless in Denver. Crazy! but know she is trying to find the meaning of life and she knows that the gospel has helped her friends and she wants help from anything. She said she is wondering if she can go to church even though she's not a member of the church. AMAZING!!! we are going to see her again on tuesday.

Also transfers are coming up next week. Ugh! super stressful, but if you get my letter really late next week, you'll know why.

Conference was AMAZING!
there is so many talks that I have learned. My favorite talk was elder Bednar. When he told the story of two boys and the pain could be descrbed in the scriptures. "there was a great howl. weeping and wailing and gnashing of teeth." hahahahahah! that was awesome. But I did get a lot of inspiration from a lot of the apostles.

I love you all!!
