June 29, 2013 MTC

Hello family!!
how are you guys??
I am glad to hear adam is doing good. well, the first day at the MTC was serioulsy the longest day of my life. after i arrived to utah, lindsey and I went to say goodbye to zack, then we went to lunch at the lionhouse, which is delicious by the way. after that we headed over to the mtc west (wyview appt.) where the host missionaries met us. then it was just class after class.
so since I am not staying in the main MTC, we don't actually go to the main building unless we really wanted to which is on P-days. all of our classes are in the apartments. we do alot of walking from one place to another. which is nice because it is not so cowded, and we get a little more privacy. i have to say my fist comp sis. Green is way awesome! she is from austen texas, and we get along so well together.
my stay at the MTC is so amazing!!! we already taught our fist "investigator" a couple of days ago which was kind of like a train wreck. but I guess thats what the Missionary Training Center is for right? haha. we are teaching him today, so I hope it goes well.
the cafeteria is teeny tiny, so I try my best to eat heathy as much as possible. all the fruit they have there is apples and oranges. we are the first group of missionaries to come here, so they are still experimenting on us. not alot of the teachers know how to work on the computers, becuase I think they are different from the main building.
yesterday was kind of a bad morning. I had a really bad nose bleed that lasted for about 20 minutes becuase it is so dang dry up here. on top of that, we were late for breakfast, and I had lost my nametag in the process. but it all turned out okay in the afternoon becuase I had lunch, my nose wasn't bleeding anymore, and I found my nametag (it was attached to my shirt from yesterday. go figure).
No, I am not sick of your 50 letters you sent me ;) they are awesome. hey, how come i didn't hear from the rest of the family??? whats up with that? I did get my package, they are awesome. thank you so much. tell carlie and michael congrats for me! totally unexpected about michael. haha.
ther is also a little creamery right next to the apartments that we can go to on breaks just to get stuff. its like a mini teeny tiny walmart. about the size of the living roon and dining room combined. its awesome.
well, I got to go. I have 8 minutes left on this computer, so I got to go.
Love you guys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sis. Rook
Sister Green is her first companion and Paige loved her.  They got along so well.  Paige said they both cried when they parted in Denver.   They are standing in front of the Wyview apartments which is a new part of the MTC.  The MTC is packed so the church expanded into these apartments.  Paige loved it because it wasn't as busy as the other building.

This is Paige's district.  26 young men and woman went to the Colorado Denver North mission.  Amazing numbers!  Go get em!

June 26, 2013

This morning started bright and early!  Paige was up at the crack of dawn.  Her alarm went off at 3:45, and was in the shower.  My alarm went off at 4:00, and I stumbled out of bed and knew this day was going to be rough.  Paige was excited and just wanted to get on with it.  Time to get the show on the road!  Dad made her her favorite breakfast of scrambled eggs and cilantro, but she could only eat half of it.  Too nervous to eat.  We loaded her luggage in the car, woke up the boys and we were on our way to the Spokane airport.  The drive was quiet as we knew what was about to take place.  Got to the airport in plenty of time, checked her in and said our good byes.  I cannot tell you how hard it was to watch her go up the ramp to head to SLC.  I'm so proud of her, but I will miss her so much!  It is truly bittersweet!  I love her so much.  We had Lindsey Thurgood picking her up, and Lindsey couldn't find her when she landed.  Made us a bit nervous, but finaly she had her in her care and they went to the Lion House for lunch and then finally to the MTC where she called me for the last time.  Godspeed my sweet Paige!  I love you so very much!  God Be With You Til We Meet Again!

 Amanda Asay

Tonight Paige was set apart as a full time missionary.  Before we went Paige was so uptight and snappy.  You could just tell that she was nervous and anxious.  Then she was set apart, and her whole countenance changed.  She became calm, and quiet.  President Nichols blessed her with peace, and courage.  He told her that she would be able to open her mouth, and bear testimony.  He blessed her that people in Colorado were waiting for her, that only her could touch their lives.  He also blessed her that she would be blessed immensely for her service to our Heavenly Father.  Blessed her with health and safety.  All these blessings for her calmed her mom down as well.  Tears were shed, but it was mixed between tears of joy, and tears of sadness.  It is very bittersweet to send them off.  Love this girl so very much!

We had a farewell open house for Paige on the 23rd of June, but we totally spaced taking any pictures because we had a full house!  People just kept coming into our small little home.  We were bursting at the seems.  So Paige took some pictures of her and her friends at a Family Home Evening the night after.  Everyone that was in these pictures came to the open house and then some.  Paige is an amazing person and will do amazingly well on her mission.  She is very kind and patient.  Good luck to you little girl!  We will miss you so much, but know you are doing the Lord's work!  Hugs!

Going to the Temple June 1, 2013

Today we took Paige to the temple.  What a glorious day it was!

The day was beautiful, and we had so many friends that were there with us to share a special day.  Will and Ute Hathaway were there, however they didn't get in the pictures with us.  We had the Thurgood family i.e. Scott and Liz, Adam and Whitney, and Zach and Lindsey.  We also had some of Paige's friends, Erin who served a mission in Uruguay, and Amanda who is going to Texas on her mission, Ali Polluck.  She went to Michigan on her mission and she wasn't in the pictures either!   Grandma came from Boise as well.  Such a joy to have kids go to the Temple.  We are hoping to get Gavin taken care of so that the whole family will be in the temple together!  What a dream!  Congratulations Paige!
